Maverick Protocol has made a groundbreaking move by launching a MemeFi platform on Coinbase’s Base network. This innovative platform aims to bring decentralized finance (DeFi) to the world of memecoins, as revealed to Cointelegraph on December 9th.
Named goose.run, this platform is poised to become Base’s response to Pump.fun, the popular Solana memecoin platform. In addition to offering similar functionalities to Pump.fun, such as liquidity bootstrapping for new tokens, goose.run also enables users to lend and borrow against memecoins.
Bob Baxley, a Maverick contributor, expressed optimism about the potential of Base for memecoin platforms. He highlighted the platform’s greenfield nature and the lack of traction seen by previous attempts in this space.
Unlike traditional DeFi lending platforms like Aave, which operate in a two-sided market, Goose.run takes a unique approach. As Baxley explained, “the pool itself is the counterparty for the borrowing,” making lending and borrowing available from day one of memecoin listings.
With plans to “gamify” memecoin trading and integrate video broadcasting for capital formation through content creation, Goose.run is set to revolutionize the memecoin space.
